I Cant Find A Lawyer To Take My Dental Malpractice Case.?
My inferior aveolar nerve was severed by my Oral surgeon. I am completely numb in chin, bottom lip and some teeth. I never knew this could happen. It is devastating. The only follow up advice from the surgeon was to see an out of state doctor for another surgery that may or may not repair this nerve and could cause further damage.
I spoke to a few attorneys offices who specialize in Dental Malpractice. All say negligence is hard to prove and that these cases are too costly and time consuming to take on so I just have to live with it? I am beside myself. I am just in shock and awe that an Oral Surgeon could injure someone this way and just walk away. If anyone has advice on any other way to pursue please let me know.

I’m sorry this happened to you. Cases ike this are extremely rare, but it is one of the risks associated with wisdom teeth removal. The consent form you signed I’m sure has this possibility listed. If the surgeon has a signed consent, you legally knew of the risks. A lawyer would have to show gross negligence on the surgeon’s part. You’re gonna be hard pressed to show this. More than likely, it will just be a waste of everyone’s time. Once again, I’m sorry that this happened to you.
I’d go to the law section of Y! Answers, given there may be some law students or experienced answerers that could help you out there. I’m so sorry this happened to you, and good luck.
P.S: I read your other question, and saw that you wrote “didn’t need removed”. Are you from Pittsburgh or around that area? Because dropping the “to be” from the sentence is a classic ‘burgh sign. : D
