I was never told that i have some kind of diease from my family doctor.I later fold out from my dentists since they fax the statement over to my dental seven months ago.But i was never told from my family doctor that i ever have a disease during my checkup or any letters.The dental that i went to never call me to inform me also of what i have until now seven months later.If i do have what was stated in the report i could have been seeking medical treatment and slowing down the disease progress but instead i was never knew all about it.My question is who is at fault??Family doctor or Dental???

He has since sold his practice and upon searching his name online I have found out there are around 20+ people who have filed complaints against him for fraud, abuse, negligence and not keeping accurate records. He was abusive toward me and his staff, and refused to return calls. He prescribed me about 10 vicodin prescriptions when I moved away and said his work was fine. He recently sold his practice and I have been told he is “out of the country” countless times. I can’t get sleep at night because I feel like he did something very wrong. I am not the type to go off suing people, but this man should surely have to pay me back, right? I would like to know if this case is worth pursuing. It has not been quite a year yet, and I now live in a different state. Please, any help from people who are familiar with dental malpractice, please give me some input.

They sent letters to my dentists that i have a conditions seven months ago that i have but i was never told personally or any letters in the mail saying i have a diease later only found out from my dentists.My blood test also was clean that i took from my family doctor.It doesnt make sense somethin is not right.So in that seven months wasted i could have taken care of my problems that was not told about,i am so angry.Is this malpractice??

As a hygienist I most certainly do have my own policy, but to my knowledge it is not a requirement. The cost is fairly low (about $75.00) per year for a considerable amount of coverage. Most dental offices carry malpractice that covers them and their employees but I personally wouldn’t feel OK worrying if the bill got paid on time and the limits of the policy were high enough to cover legal expenses. It is a small amount of money to protect myself. The best policy is to never put yourself in a situation to need it.

I went to the dentist to a general check up. Dentist told me that I have a couple of small cavities in my left wisdom teeth. Ultimately, she suggested that they fill the cavities. The initial shuts for the procedure felt truly painful and abnormal. But, dentist told me that it is normal when procedure is done for wisdom tooth. Additionally, during the procedure dentist and her assistant were consistently tried to open my mouse bigger and bigger. After the procedure was done doctor told me that I will feel pain and discomfort for the next several days. Ten days later, I still could only open my mouth about 1.5 fingers, left side of my face is still hurting, my left ear and left side of my neck is hurting as well. I feel that my teeth do not align the same way they did before the procedure. I have called the dentist and they invited me to stop by the office. In office dentist told me that complications resulted from procedure because my mouth was open too big. She told me that I have to see TMJ specialist. However, they could not refer me to anyone. Instead they gave me a sticky note with the phone number to some dental school that might be able to recommend me to someone. I asked who is going to pay for the medical treatments and they said that I need to contact my insurance company and discuss this matter with them. I opposed, stating that complications arised from the procedure. They said that it is not the case. I asked to invite the doctor, they refused. Additionally, I requested my dental records (copies), on which they refused as well. Meanwhile, I have contacted my general doctor and waiting for the referral to a specialist. I truly feel that this dental office should be responsible for their negligence. I am not sure what my exact diagnose but my symptoms are very disturbing.

In a nutshell: You need to prove that the practitioner caused a bodily injury to you due to treatment that was not up to the accepted standard of care, within the time period specified by the statute of limitations.
“bodily injury”: That means physical injury to your person only. You can’t sue for dental malpractice based on “emotional or psychological injury” or “financial injury” or any such other circumstances. If you were not physically injured, you don’t have a case.
“accepted standard of care.” There are standards for treatment procedures established by the dental profession. If you were injured but the dentist did perform the procedure to the accepted standard of care, had informed you of the injury and taken the correct steps to treat the injury, you don’t have a case.
“statute of limitations.” This means you have a limited amount of time to file a lawsuit for most cases (it’s usually 3 years). Under most circumstances, you can’t wait 20 years then file a lawsuit.

My dentist said that my from teeth were wearing down and that he could put bonding on them to stop the wear. However he made my tooth too big which caused the bonging to chipped off the day after. I went back in and he rebonded it. The next day the same thing happened but less of the bonding chipped off so I left it alone. A few months went by and he tried smoothing it out so it was no longer jagged. A day later the bonding chipped again, this time taking some of my tooth with it. The tooth now hurts and it looks like crap. I don’t want alot of money just whatever he was charging me for the dental work and however much it will be to fix the tooth. Thanks.
