Be Honest About This Scenario?

Pretend for a moment that I am your dentist. While doing a routine root canal, I made a minor calculation error that caused you minor nerve damage in subsequent years. Previously, you had all of your dental work completed by me with no problems. What would be your course of action? Would you sue? Would you simply drop me as your dentist? Just trying to get a feel for how important dental malpractice is.

ok the insurance approved for my dentist to do a root canal on me, it was not hurting or anything , she ignored the other teeth that were hurting so bad that I had to call 911 from the pain, and why she did a root canal on that painless apparently healthy tooth is beyond my comprehension, as a result there is a tooth a waiting a crown and she is demanding $1,200 dollars for the crown to be put on without telling me this would be a result. I went in for treatment of the decayed teeth ( exctractions on the ones that hurt so bad i had to call 911, not for her to ignore those and then cut off the tip of a healthier panless tooth that costs $1,200 to fix) as if she was daingling a carrot in front of me, and she also drilled and shaved off some other teeth just because she felt like it, not for any benefit to anyone, she goes “hmmm shave that off a bit”
so what can I do? I feel violated. And worried.

Do I Need A Root Canal? Is This Dental Malpractice?

3 weeks ago I went to the dentist for a checkup. I was told I needed two fillings. One of my old fillings fell off some time ago and it needed to re-filled. I get the fillings done. The new filling feels fine, and gives no pain at all. However, the re-filled tooth gives me sharp pain when I bight down on any type of food(soft or hard). My tooth is now very sensitive to different temperatures(hot/cold drinks make my tooth/gums hurt). Anyway, the dentist asks me to give it a week for recovery. After a full week, no change in statust. I go back to the dentist and the filling is filed down. She thought the filling was probably too high. X-rays were taken(and im assuming my tooth wasnt cracked since they didnt mention that). Now the dentist says I might need a root canal. She asked to wait about 10 days to see if the pain was caused by a high filling. 3 days past since then, and now I get severe pain to the entire right side of mouth. Eating/drinking is painful. Do I ned a root canal?

I had a root canal and crown placed on my molar less than a year ago (around Christmas). I’ve been having pain in the molar and I went back to my endodontist and he took an X-ray. He says that there’s been in an infection because they didn’t take out some kind of agent, or stuff, or thing, that cleanses the gap in tooth of germs and bacteria. My endodontist says the dentist putting the crown was suppose to remove that before putting on the crown.
I asked him if it was a common mistake, and he said that he wrote it on the notes to them to remove it. What is this stuff exactly? Do you guys know what he’s talking about?
I initially wanted to just pay for the procedure, but my parents are telling me that if it’s his fault (the general dentist that didn’t properly remove the stuff thereby preventing reinfection) he should pay for it. And if he doesn’t pay for damages they will sue for medical malpractice.
But is this a possible case of Malpractice? What is this stuff that my general dentist was suppose to remove before putting on the cap? Wouldn’t he have known to have removed it before putting on the cap? This general dentist who put on the crown says he teaches dentistry at the Ivy League school around my way, so I would assume that he knows what he’s doing and he’s probably done a bunch of these.
Dentists, please help me.

Is This Dental Malpractice?

I’ve been going to the same dentist for over 30 years. Recently I have noticed tooth sensitivity along my gum line. When I asked him about this he said that it was due to brushing too hard over the years and that I had worn away the enamel on my teeth. But he never warned me about this steadily increasing problem. Now he wants to cap all of my teeth for $200 each. If you do not warn your client of the damage he is doing to his teeth (so that you can later make money off the problem) is this considered Malpractice?
