What Do You Think Is Better Md Or Dds?

I am in dental school, but I just wanted to get some opinions given the following information. Ave MD salary for GP 130,000. Ave DDS salary for GP 120,000, MD high malpractice insur., DDS low malpractice insur., MD hours/day 11, DDS hours/day 9, MD days/week 5-6, DDS days/week 4-5, MD cost of schooling 140,000, DDS cost of schooling 160,000. Duration of MD schooling 4 years, Duration of DDS schooling 4 years. Degree earned for both = doctorate, MD more prestige, DDS, less prestige. MD residency 3-5 years. Dental residency 1-3 years (unless OMS 4 years (6yrs to get OMS and MD)) What do you guys think is the best option from your personal point of view? Just curious.

Root Canal Done Wrong! What Should I Do??please Read Detail Below For Story…?

May, of this year, I paid cash for root canal. I recently started getting dental insurance and old dentist did not accept my insurance so I went to a new dentist. My new dentist have done quite of bit of work for me now and have prepared me for the crown for the root canal the old dentist did. But my insurance called and told me that the coverage would be denied because the root canal done in may was not complete as told by my xrays. I fear if the root canal has to be redone I will lose the tooth. After my new dentist prepared it, barely any tooth is left. But why didnt my new dentist notice the incorrect root canal?? Should I tell my old dentist what is going on?? do i let my new dentist fix the problem, could this be dental malpractice in need for a lawyer, especally if i end up losing the tooth? If not could I at least get my cash back for a root canal that was not even done right? should I go to a new dentist all together??

I am a dental assistant, so I know the behinds the scenes reasons why dentistry is so expensive. I am amazed at the number of people on here who call dentists money hungry and complain about the amount of money that dentists make, but a dentist isn’t so bad when that same person has a horrible toothach. Do patients really think that the money they pay a dentist goes directly into their pocket? Do patients not realize that everything that they see in that office, from the drills to the anesthetic down to a single piece of paper, costs money, and that a dentist has to pay for all of this, rent, lab bills, utilities, salaries, malpractice insurance, continueing ed courses, repairs to computers and other equipment, before he pockets a dime of the money patients pay him? I can tell you, if I went to school for 8 years, paid over $300,000 for dental school, and had to deal with the issues that dentists do, I would expect to take home over $1000,000 a year. Wouldn’t you?

I went in to the dental office knowing I had a lot of cavities needing to be filled and maybe even a root canal and so I said to them that My JAW was broken years ago and I have 3 plates , so they know and they took x rays and said I had 8 cavities to fill and they were on the right side, and possilbly 1 of them was a root canal , now they did the work and I told the lady that If it looks at all Like a root canal they lets do the root canal and so she did the work and only did the cavities, now I cant chew on the right side of my mouth cause I feel every little thing and so I went back and they put me with another dentist in the same office under the same owner and that dentist said I have to go to a specialist cause my root is curved , now shouldn’t they have said that before they did anywork because if they would have I would have gone to the specialist in the first place, they charged me so they could make money and now I have to go and pay even more to see a specialist when I could have paid that if I wouldn’t have gone to the dopes who messed my tooth up! Whats my recourse for this kind of MALPRACTICE and can I DO IT MYSELF ! I IM not rich and still need them to fix what they screwed up PLEASE HELP ME DUE I SUE LOL !!!!

What Is The Difference Between Medical Malpractice And Medical Negligence?

My finance had some dental work done that the dentist completely screwed up. (A procedure that she was originally told was going to take 3 weeks is now in its 7th month, and we’re making an emergency trip to another dentist this afternoon because something just broke.)
I want to explore legal actions against her original dentist because of all the lost wages, time, and emotional & physical suffering she’s experienced as a result of this — not to mention the additional money that is coming out of our pockets to fix what he screwed up.
However, I’m wondering if the dentist has actually committed “malpractice” or if he just didn’t really know what he was doing. Is there a difference between the two? What is the legal definition for medical malpractice? Is there a certain “threshold” that needs to be met? (This is taking place in Maryland, by the way.)

Well I had 6 teeth pulled out of my upper left side of my mouth…. sorta. 3 still have roots 1 still has actual tooth above the gumline. The dentist that did this did stitch me up but did not schedule me for a check up within a decent time. (2 months) He told me that the visible white was normal…. so I was like ok 2nd opinion time. The first thing the other dentist was holy ****. Telling me about the roots and the partial tooth and suggested that I go to an oral surgeon to get them out. Sad thing is I can’t use my insaunrce because I had the tooth pulled already and it would have to be put under root extraction. Now I have no clue what to do. If I go back to the old dentist I don’t trust how he works. The oral surgeon will break my bank in one sitting. Is there anyway I could get a dental malpractice case to help pay for the old dentist screw up or am I stuck between a rock and a hardplace and have to foot the bill myself. oh yeah no upper teeth for 3 months is fun

I got permanent facial numbness from a dentist who was unsure he could perform the procedure, i never signed a consent to possible damage, and so with the advice of others I sued him.
I have no feeling in my lower lip or part of my chin ever again. The tooth probably didn’t even need to be removed.
A lawyer examined the case and after 1 year decided she couldn’t win it because her “expert witness” (another oral surgeon) could not prove any “negligent acts”.
She advised me to seek some other legal counsel. What the hell should I do? I feel like this is a legitimate injury case – why is it so difficult?And . . .more to the point, who should I speak with? One of those personal injury lawyers?
